Soundtrack Research

 A notable feature of any rom-com is its soundtrack. Since I wouldn't have been able to make my own original music for my film opening, I had the option of using a song or ambient romantic music. However, keeping to the spirit of a rom-com, I decided to use a pop song (about love).

Many popular rom-coms have notable soundtracks that are generally peppy, upbeat, romantic, or all three. For example, The song 'Kiss Me' by Sixpence None the Richer was featured in 'She's All That' (1999) and is considered iconic even today.

As my film opening was about teenage love, I wanted a song that could reflect that. I also needed it to have a jovial rather acoustic beat, almost like an indie genre song, but not quite. After research, I selected these two songs as my potential options

  1. 'Honey, Honey' by ABBA
  2. 'Paper Rings' by Taylor Swift

However, I cannot finalise my selection as it depends heavily on how I edit my footage.
