First attempt at Creating a Script for my film opening

As the initial step to creating an opening sequence, I started creating a script for my opening sequence. As someone who has never attempted a script before, this was unfamiliar territory for me. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a shot.

Below is the script I wrote:

OPENING SEQUENCE SCRIPT

BEDROOM MORNING

Medium close-up shot of analog alarm clock, as the clock ticks to 6.30 AM, the alarm goes off. A hand reaches out to switch it off

Shot of the bottom of the bed, as Alyssa’s feet hit the ground. Establishing shot of Alyssa’s room, as she stretches her arms above her head

CUT TO:

KITCHEN MORNING

Close-up of the kettle being filled with water and put to boil. Alyssa’s mom takes tea cups and bowls and places them on the counter

CUT TO:

BATHROOM MORNING

Extreme close-up of showerhead as the water is turned on. Close-up of Alyssa’s hand as she squeezes shower gel onto it.

CUT TO:

BEDROOM MORNING

Alyssa in a bathrobe takes clothes out of her cupboard and throws them onto her bed

CUT TO:

KITCHEN MORNING

Medium close-up of Alyssa’s mother placing toast in a toaster. Overhead shot of frying pan as Alyssa’s mother cracks an egg into it

CUT TO:

BEDROOM MORNING

close-up of Alyssa’s face as she applies makeup. Alyssa sprays perfume on her wrists and neck. An extreme close-up of Alyssa’s lips as she applies lip gloss. A wide shot of Alyssa’s room as she takes her school bag and looks at her wall with pictures of her friends and her goals etc... Her eyes linger a little longer on a picture of a younger her with a boy. She smiles a little and leaves the room.

CUT TO:

KITCHEN MORNING

Alyssa enters the kitchen and sits down at the table. Her mother places her breakfast in front of her and kisses her on the cheek. Alyssa scrolls through her phone for a bit and then places it on the table. She pours a glass of juice for herself and takes a bite of her toast. Her phone screen lights up with a message notification that she ignores. Her phone starts ringing. She sighs and answers.

Alyssa: Yes?

*illegible noise from the phone*

Alyssa, laughing: Well good morning to you too

Friend on the phone: OH MY GOD Alyssa HE’S BACK IN THE COUNTRY

Alyssa places the phone down in shock. She gasps and has a reaction of surprise.

END.

After writing and reviewing my script, I realised that it lacked proper structure and was an emulgumation of editing, shooting and narration.

However it did give my sequence a certain structure and I'm considering this script as a sort of backbone. This will also be really helpful when I work on my first storyboard
